Where Environmental Engineering Meets Environmental Microbiology and Microbial Ecology!
Environmental Microbiology Laboratory at KAIST focuses on understanding and harnessing of environmental microbiome to seek solutions to various environmental problems. Our areas of research include, but are not limited to:
Understanding and manipulation of the microbial C- and N-cycles to reduce greenhouse gas (CH4 and N2O) emission from natural and engineered environments.
Assessment and improvement of biological drinking water safety in urban and rural water production and distribution systems
Bioremediation of various organic and inorganic contaminants.
Environmental metagenomics and metatranscriptomics
